A primary goal of ANSA membership is to become competent crew or skippers of
off-shore capable vessels 35ft of larger. to gain experience, members are asked
to participate in day-sails, Chesapeake Bay raft-ups, or chartered off-shore cruises.
Taking courses is recommended but not required.
ANSA members continue the tradition of training members as both crew and skippers.
ANSA Qualification levels correspond with the United States Naval Sailing Association
(USNSA) Checklists.
If you are new to sailing, and would appreciate training from experienced Sailing
Instructors, ANSA would live to have your company.
Prior sailing experience is not necessary to enroll in Piloting & Navigation or Senior
Crew courses. A Maryland Basic Boating Course Certificate is recommended but not required.
Membership fees and training class fees are very resonable, especially when compared
to commercial sailing schools. Class size is limited, so applications are accepted on
a first come basis.
